With a great track and some super fast pros, it was also one of the hardest races to do. Highlights of the weekend were Randy Stumpfhauser winning the ABA #1 Pro Cruiser title, Dale Holmes looking super fast and tricked out in his new all white uniform, and the addition of Cristian Becerine to the Double A Marketing team of rider, debuting in his new Crupi team colors. Don't forget to check out his Bio that is posted. We will be getting a full report up from the Grands soon. Today was practice and the ABA Grands track is awesome. With a lot of jumps and a cool Pro section, this is one of the best ABA Grands tracks in years. The ABA did an excellent job. Stumpy and Dale Holmes.com looked fast and will have a great battle for the Pro Cruiser title. We will get some photos tomorrow and update you on the Race of Champions and Pro spectacular. Here is a shot of the half built ABA Grands track. Looks like the ABA has done a great job so far and it should be a great weekend of racing. We will be there tomorrow and be giving you all the info with daily coverage and all the news and scoop.
The ABA Grands are this weekend and all the Double A Marketing riders are getting ready for one of the best races of the year. We will be there, and will be updating on a daily basis, with Photo's, rider quotes, and all the info we can get for you. We will also be announcing the addition of a new rider to the Double A Marketing crew, along with a new factory ride for him for 2003. With just a few weeks before the ABA Grands, things are crazy in the BMX community. Riders are getting sponsorships finalized with other are preparing for the 2004 season. I know that a few of the Double A Marketing riders will have new factory rides for 2004 and it will be the best year ever. We are also working on a few new layout designs for the website and hope to have an entire new look as well for 2004. Here is some quick info to help get you up to date on each of the guys: Dale Holmes took off the Fall Nationals as a summer of BMX and MTB racing took a lot out of him and he needed his rest. IT sounds weird to miss such a big race, but Dale only wants to race to win and knew he needed some time off to come to the ABA Grands and ride his best. Randy Stumpfhauser has had the best season of his BMX Pro career in 2003. With a Win at the UCI Worlds, winning the NBL #1 Pro title, and now on his way to a 3rd ABA PRo cruiser #1 title, his season has been quite impressive. Randy was also in the main at the X-Games, and the UCI Downhill race at Woodward. The UCI Downhill race may have been the only thing to keep him from getting #1 in the ABA, as a hard crash in the main had him skip the next 2 ABA nationals, and making it just impossible to catch Warwick Stevenson in the points. Its ok though, at 26, Randy has a lot of racing left in him. Christophe Leveque is once again sidelined with an injury. This time he broke his foot at a no clips race in France. Christophe had gone back to France to ride and train for the end of the year and to get a good jump on the 2004 season. This minor setback kept him away from the Fall Nationals, but he is getting his cast off this week, and should be good to go at the ABA Grands. You may get to see Christophe in your area in the next few months, as He has a young BMX rider coming to stay with him from France and he will be showing him all over what BMX in the USA is all about. Jamie Staff had a great little stint of BMX racing in the past month, but a crash at Del Mar ended his main making streak. Jamie had won the ABA Gold Cup West Day one Pro National and then placed 2nd, behind Thomas Allier on Day 2. Jamie was at the Falls, but a small crash took him out of racing action. Now Jamie is back home in England for a few weeks, before heading off to Australia to start his Olympic training for the next few months. It will great to see Jamie get a shot at a Olympic medal next summer, and lets all give him a cheer when you seem him on TV! Wade Bootes is relaxing home in Australia after having surgery to have the plates removed from his collar bone, allowing him to make such a fast comeback in the beginning of the season. Those plates sure did a lot, as Wade raced a lot of MTB races, the X-Games, and the UCI BMX and MTB worlds. Wade looks to get some summer time racing in while at home, and we plan a visit to the WadeBootes.com Australian World Headquarters in January. Check out the newest rider spotlight- Dale Holmes. Randy Stumpfhauser won Pro Cruiser both days at the ABA Falls, extending his lead of the ABA #1 Pro Cruiser title points chase. Randy looks to make it 3 in a row, adding another title to his list for 2003 - NBL #1 AA Pro and UCI Elite Cruiser World Champion. Jamie Staff took a bad crash early on on Saturday and was unable to finish the weekend out, injuring his ankle. Nothing too serious, just enough to keep him off the track at 100%. The ABA Fall Nationals are just around the conner, this weekend, and it looks to be a great race. Weather here in California has been great over the past few weeks, with high's in the 80's, so anyone coming from the cold will get a great week of weather. The Double A Marketing riders will be out in full force, as its the last chance to gain some points towards the ABA overall title. Jamie Staff has just won the ABA Gold Cup West Coast Championship AA race on Day 1. Jamie, who has been doing a lot of Velodrome racing this year, and not much BMX at all, wins the AA Pro Class in Mesquite, Nevada on day 1 and places 2nd in AA Pro on day 2. This is Jamie's first BMX win since joining the Hyundai/GT BMX team, and he was super stoked. John Parker is getting ready for a crazy 30 day tour with Tony Hawk on the Boom Boom Huck jam. It was a great show last year, and this year it will be even better and out do itself. Check out the tour dates here at www.boomboomhuckjam.com and see if they will be near your town. You better get tickets early, as they sold out a lot of places last year. Well, Stumpy made the main event and got tangled up in the first turn, crashing and finishing up 8th for the day. Keep your eyes opened for the show on Fox Sports in the next month or so, and we will give you the show dates once we receive them. Its Thursday, and we are here at Woodward. Click here for Woodward updates. This upcoming weekend will be the UCI Downhill race at Woodward, PA. With talks of Hurricane Isabelle on the way, we sure hope that we are not once again sitting in the rain at a BMX race. BMXpros will be there, and we will be giving you daily updates of the race, as Wade Bootes, Randy Stumpfhauser, and Christophe Leveque will all be there to race. The First of the 3 ABA Gold cups were this past weekend, with the first one on the East Coast. Wade Bootes has been in the USA, racing the X-Games, then off to the Norba Finals. He then got ready for the Jeep King of the Mountain Series final, and he took home the win, as long at the team championship win, where he grabbed $10,000. Wade is now off to Europe for the MTB World Championships as well. Randy Stumpfhauser also took a weekend of ABA racing to help get him ready for the NBL Grands, where he took home a 1st and 2nd in AA Pro in El Paso, TX. Stumpy currently leads the NBL Points chase and looks to grab his first AA Pro title. Jamie Staff is getting ready to make his BMX comeback, as he will be at the NBL Grands, then hit most of the remaining BMX nationals for 2003. Riders have to use their brakes more than pedaling, as the speed gets so fast, guys were seen over jumping stuff. It had rained up here last week, so the dirt to use the track was still under water till Wednesday or so, that made for a soft track when it was built, and as of last nights pro practice, it still has soft spots. It can make for some dangerous conditions for the heavy riders, like the pros, so we will keep you posted to what its like after toady's (Saturdays) race. Jamie Staff and Martin Murray Launch Applied Training Systems (ATS) How often have you dreamt of winning that race, winning that championship title, getting your own personal interview in a magazine or getting your own signature frame? Well, they say that dreams precede reality. Here at Applied Training Systems we can help make your dreams a reality.
Applied Training Systems aims to provide specific training programs for you the BMX racer. Our training programs are designed to enhance your areas of weakness, improve your strengths and develop new skills to help you go on and achieve your goals, how ever high they may be.
Right now we are in the final stages of designing and operating a website to enable us (Jamie Staff and Martin Murray) to reach the consumers (BMX racers of any age and any level, World Wide) and offer them a Personal Trainer service over the Internet. The website contains information on the training services we are able to offer (Weight training, Road bike, Sprint, Plyometric, and Interval programs.) And allows the consumer the opportunity to obtain a program in whatever area of physical training they need.
From analysis of the athletes needs, a training program can be developed to cater to that individual. As there is going to be a wide variety of training needs they will be charged according to the information they are requiring. Programs right now start at $50/ month up to $130/ month depending upon what programs they would like to obtain, Plus package deals for prepaying for months ahead. Training programs will be e-mailed on a monthly basis to the athlete. Each program contains weekly cycles and each element of training is explained in great detail so the athlete is educated on what is being done and why.
All programs are designed by Jamie Staff (former UK Champion, European Champion, World Champion and NBL Pro Champion 2001) and Martin Murray (former UK Pro Champion, BSC (Honors) 2:1 Sports Science). With almost 40 years of competitive experience between the two, the partnership brings together the combination of scientific knowledge and proven success to provide you with the best possible BMX specific training programs.
We hope to have the Website up and running in the next couple of months (April/May) and will be accepting clients at that time. We are offering the service in the USA and UK to begin with but hope to branch out to other countries in the near future.
