CHRISTOPHE LEVEQUE
Double A: Describe yourself.
Christophe: My name is Christophe Leveque, I was born on February 11th 1973 in a little
town in France named Saint Ouen. I'm 5 "10 and 190lbs, I have brown eyes and
chestnut hair, I have no brothers or sisters and I have raced BMX since 1987.
Double A: What is your typical non-racing day like?
Christophe: I'm like everybody else, I stay home and rest when I don't have to train,
watch T.V, play basketball, go to the beach, work on my garage, clean my
bike, make some phone calls ... just a normal life!
Double A: How did you get involved in racing?
Christophe: 12 years ago, I went to see my cousin race at a local race in France, I liked
it and I tried it the next weekend. I won my first novice race, so I kept
doing it and I'm whom I am today...
Double A: What was your first big race win?
Christophe: The world championship in France in 1990, I was racing 17 and over Expert.
Double A: What is in your training schedule?
Christophe: It's too long and too complicated to tell you in detail, but basically I'm
doing sprints, gym, starts, trails and endurance with my road bike.
Double A: What is your favorite part of being a Pro?
Christophe: It gives me the opportunity to do what I want and especially not to be
working at a regular job 8 hours a day. I'm free of almost any trouble and I
can enjoy my life, I'm very happy!
Double A: Where do you ride?
Christophe: I ride at the Orange Y BMX Track, Coal Canyon BMX track, and Sheep Hills.
Double A: Who do you ride with?
Christophe: I ride with a lot of AA pros who live around the same area as I do, like
Thomas Allier, Alan Foster, Todd Lyons, Darrin Mitchell, Brian Foster, Dale
Holmes, Neal Wood, etc.
Double A: What other sports are you interested in? Who is you favorite athlete/team?
Christophe: I like basketball, Motocross, Mountain bike downhill / slalom, and I like
car racing. Sorry if I'm not original but Michael Jordan is definitely the
man! I don't have a favorite team.
Double A: If you could be a pro in another sport, who would it be?
Christophe: I would have like to be a basketball player but I'm 5'10" and I'm white so...
Double A: What would be your dream job after BMX?
Christophe: My dream job would be to make enough money while I'm a BMX pro so when I
retire, I would not have to work at all. Or maybe a race car driver.
Double A: Who did you look up to when you first started racing?
Christophe: Nobody really, maybe Mike King when he came to the biggest race ever in Paris
at Bercy in 1988.
Double A: What drives you to be a top Pro?
Christophe: To be able to live my life with the best job I can ever have: Racing my BMX
bike!
Double A: Do you have any superstitions?
Christophe: None at all.
Double A: Tell us one thing about yourself that not many people know.
Christophe: I can't answer this question because if I tell you, everybody will know about
it, and my secret will be out! Sorry!
Double A: What is your favorite bike part?
Christophe: My Specialized frame, The Hemi Team.
Double A: What is something that you are really good at other than BMX?
Christophe: I guess I 'm good in BMX and that's already a lot, so nothing else besides
that, I try to be good at basketball.
Double A: How are you different from the other Pros?
Christophe: I think I have a lot of determination, I'm not lazy and I have a good
training schedule and I really hate losing.
Double A: Describe your riding style.
Christophe: Smooth, all the way from point A to point B.
Double A: Who would you like to thank?
Christophe: Everybody from Specialized (Travis, Sandy, Mike), all my co-sponsors: ATI,
Vans, Oakley, Fox, Crupi. Powerbar, Troy Lee Designs, Mountain Dew, Speed
Stick, Champion Nutrition, Double A Marketing. and all of my fans that cheer
for me at the races and send me e-mails.
