BMX Race Report

UCI World Championship Victoria, Canada

The World Championships are always the toughest race for the Elite Racers
and the 2007 event was by far the most competitive in BMX history. With
over 150 Elite Pros signed up for the event, this was the largest showing
of the worlds best pros all at one event. The World Championship track
in Victoria was by far one of the most technical and outstanding BMX
racing tracks that the event has ever been raced on and it was a true
showing of the worlds best racers in the main event. For team USA, this
was the first event for qualifying points for the 2008 Olympic selection
so there was even more at stake than ever for our riders. This always
important and meaningful event just got a bit more prestigious and the
Double A Marketing Pros were ready to take on the challenge of the ever
so difficult task of representing Team USA into the main event:

Kyle Bennett has been a man on a mission all season after coming back
from ACL surgery. Kyle had a speedy and successful recovery from an
injury that can be a career ending one and has show his determination,
natural ability, and dedication to the sport of BMX. Kyle has been looking
towards winning races and titles in 2007, as he has come on strong and
just sits 4 points out of 1st in the NBL title chase and the Worlds
are always on Kyle list of races to peak for. As Kyle arrived in Victoria
to the track on Thursday, he took a liking to the track and seemed to
master it quickly on the 1st day of practice. Kyle by far looked the
quickest but as anyone knows this is BMX racing and anything can happen.
Well for Kyle the only thing that happened as the race started was 1st
place finishes, as he won every race of the day on Saturday as the Elite
Men's racing took place. As the main event was lined up on the gate,
it was anyone's race to win, but all eyes were on Kyle as his dominating
style had the crowd as their favorite. When the gate dropped, Kyle jumped
to the lead with Aussie Khalen Young and Stumpy just behind. Kyle edged
out both riders into the 1st turn and Khalen gave Kyle a run, but was
unable to pass him. Down the last strait, Kyle pulled away and captured
his 3rd UCI World Title. Kyle was overwhelmed with joy, as all his hard
work had a huge payoff and the win puts him back into the World Champion
jersey. Kyle looks forward to a year with the rainbow jersey and hopes
to be able to replace it with a Olympic Medal in one year time. Kyle's
sponsors include Free Agent, KHS, Fly Racing, Bombshell, www.bmxtraining.com,
Sun Rims, Shimano, UGP, Kenda, Thomson, S & M bars, ODI, ORP, Powerbar,
Cyto Sport, and BMXpros.com.

Randy Stumpfhauser is known as a one of the top Pros in the world due
to the fact that he is a World Specialist with 4 Elite Cruiser World
Titles and 2 2nd's and 3 3rd's in the Elite Men's Class over the years.
Randy gave up racing Cruiser 2 years ago on a quest to get the Elite
Men's title and this has been dangerous for all the other Elite Pros
as Randy has fully focused on one bike. Coming into the event, Randy
was hoping he would be 100% ready, as just 2 weeks ago at the ABA event
in Las Vegas, a crash in the AA Pro main event on Saturday left Randy
with a sore wrist and had him sit out of the racing action on Sunday.
Randy healed up find and was ready to race for the title at the Worlds.
On Practice day, Randy did not seem to have the track 100% wired at
the end of the day, but come race time, Randy was flawless and ready
to go. As race day unfolded, Stumpy looked great on the track and made
his way to the main event look easy. Randy was looking for a title but
was very happy to make it to the Podium as he raced his way to a 3rd
place finish. Randy noted he did feel his fastest on race day but to
watch him finish 3rd, you would never have guessed that. Randy was ecstatic
for his finish as well as the win for Kyle. Randy will now get ready
for the next huge event of 2007, as him, as well as all the other Double
A Marketing Pro riders will head off to Beijing, China in 2 weeks for
the next round of the UCI Supercross series on the Olympic BMX track.
Randy's sponsors include GT Bicycles, Kenda, SINZ Racing, ODI, Tangent,
Sun Rims, Bombshell, Fly Racing, Powerbar, OGIO, SDG, SRAM, Cyto Sport,
and BMXpros.com.

Joey Bradford is not a rider who makes up excuses and just does what
he needs to when it comes to racing. Joey has been looking forward to
racing the Junior Elite Class all season and was the clear favorite
to take home the gold. He is also one who is always ready for anything
and the Worlds was just a situation. A week before the event, Joey had
a crash in training that jammed his hand and wrist and a day before
the event, as it didn't get any better, Joey went to have it check out
and found out that he had broken 2 bones, 1 in his hand and one in his
wrist. Joey had a hard decision to make and decided to give it a go
and try to see if he could race at the World Championship. Joey did
very little practice up to the day of racing, but one the racing stated,
you would have never known it, as he looked smooth on the track and
was out front a lot in qualifying. Joey was in a lot of pain, but he
tried to work through it. Joey was able to make it to the main event
and when the gate dropped, Joey had the lead and had a good lap up to
the last turn, where he bonked a jump and was unable to pull on the
bars, and slowed down just enough to get passed. Joey was able to hold
on and finish 2nd. Joey showed true tenacity racing with this injury
and had an incredible day with the 2nd place finish. Joey's sponsors
include GT Bicycles, Fly Racing, Oakley, Bombshell, THE Products, Sun
Ringle, Kenda, SDG, FSA, Sponsorhouse, Powerbar, Cyto Sport, Circle
E, SRAM, OGIO, Sirius Satellite Radio, JoeyBradford.com, and BMXpros.com
