UCI Super Cross Event - Aigle, Switzerland

When the UCI announced earlier this year that the Supercross series was on once again, but this time on more traditional type tracks, and not the downhill format, some riders were a bit skeptical. But as soon as the Pro riders arrived at the UCI World Headquarters in Aigle, Switzerland, where the 1st round of the 2005 Supercross series was held, they were pleasantly surprised. The tracked was quoted as one of the best BMX tracks ever build by more than one rider, and made this event, attended by more than 55 international Pro riders, one of the best BMX races in a very long time. Congratulations to the UCI for holding such a awesome event. All the Pros look forward to the next round of the UCI series, which will be held at the 2nd to last stop of the NBC Actions Sports Series in late September. Here is how Randy and Cristian both finished up.

Cristian Becerine started things off on Saturday with the 8th fastest qualifying time. As with any AA or Elite Pro race, the slightest mistake will keep you out of the top spot. But once the race action started, Cristian was one of the fastest riders on the track as it came time for 8 riders at a time racing. Cristian made he incredibly tough track look simple on is was to the main event. In the main, Cristian was just off the lead spot and finished up 2nd overall. With a huge payday and a great weekend of racing, Cristian was extremely happy with the UCI Supercross event. Randy Stumpfhauser rode his qualifying lap just a bit off the pace, into 5th place on Saturday, but knew once the 8 man race action would start that he would be ready to go. Randy absolutely loved the track and it showed as it looked more like a day at the trails with his smooth style instead of a day at the races. Randy would win every race he was in up till the main even. As the gate dropped in the main event, Randy wanted to continue his winning streak going but unfortunately, was just off the front and would finish 3rd overall. Randy was excited about the race and the track and looks forward for more of these types of events.
