BMX Race Report
NBL Stars and Stripes & ABA Great Salt Lake Nationals
2 huge BMX National events took place this past weekend. On the East
Coast, the NBL held the Stars and Stripes National at South park, PA.
This was the last NBL National before the Grand Nationals and it was
a very important event for Christian Becerine and Kyle Bennett. Christian
has been leading NBL Pro Points for most of the season and he was hoping
to add a few more very important points, so he could go into the NBL
Grands with the lead. Kyle who had surgery and missed a few events at
the start of the season, was looking to add 2 more powerful scores to
his impressive NBL season and give him a shot at the title and put him
into the top of the points. On the West Coast, the ABA held the Great
Salt lake National in West Jordan, Utah and Randy Stumpfhauser wanted
to go to the event and add to his already impressive ABA Pro points
lead. Here is how all of the guys finished up:
Kyle Bennett has had such a strong season after returning from surgery
and this weekend was just another example of how he may just be the
top American Pro racer right now. Needing 2 more scores to have the
maximum allowed to go after the title, this was a big weekend for Kyle
as he not only needed 2 main event scores, but 2 great scores to have
a shot at the year end title. On Saturday, Kyle got one of the great
scores he needed, as he finished 2nd in the Elite main event, just behind
his teammate Cristian. Kyle would take home a win in Elite Open. On
Sunday, Kyle knew it was his last shot to get another top score and
this time he didn't let anyone down or anyone beat him, as he won both
Elite Men and Elite Open. This puts Kyle just 2 points behind Christian
for the title and it will all come down to the NBL Grands for the title.
Kyle's sponsors include Free Agent, KHS, Fly Racing, Bombshell, www.bmxtraining.com,

Cyto Sport, and BMXpros.com.
Cristian Becerine knew that the competition was going to be after him
this weekend and he was ready. On Saturday, Cristian easily made his
way into the Elite Men's main event and was ready for a huge battle.
As the gate dropped, he had a perfect gate start and took the holeshot
and the lead. The South Park track is super fast and has huge asphalt
turns, letting riders make incredible moves and Cristian knew that anyone
from behind could do just that if he wasn't on his game. Kyle made a
pass in the 2nd turn, but Cristian turned on the power and passed him
back, on his way to another win. On Sunday, Cristian was looking for
another win, but was just off the mark with a 2nd. This was a huge weekend
for Cristian, as he still holds onto the lead and it will all come down
to the NBL Grands. Cristian's Sponsors include: Free Agent, Answer,
Kenda, THE Products, ODI, Sun Ringle, Shimano, Powerbar, Cyto Sport,
OGIO, Oakley, Thomson Seat Posts, and BMXpros.com
Randy
Stumpfhauser had a weekend to forget in Utah. On Saturday, the Pro only
format took a huge toll on the riders and the track, as the hot conditions
caused more havoc to the track than anything else. The 1st turn had
all kind of potholes and divots in it and Randy was able to find 2 of
them. On Saturday, in the main event, Randy hit one of the holes and
crashed, while in the battle for the lead. On Sunday, it was in the
semi that Stumpy found another nice hole and ended his weekend with
a 8th in AA on Saturday. Not the race weekend he was looking for, but
he left unhurt and ready for the ABA event in Las Vegas in 2 weeks.
Randy's sponsors include GT Bicycles, Kenda, SINZ Racing, ODI, Tangent,
Sun Rims, Bombshell, Fly Racing, Powerbar, OGIO, SDG, SRAM, Cyto Sport,
and BMXpros.com.
