ABA Spring Nationals Sacramento, CA May 25-26

The ABA held round 11 of the 2002 Pro tour this past weekend in Sacramento, CA. The ABA had its work cut out for themeless as they showed up to build up the track and found the area where it was to be built was 2 feet under water. After a full day of pumping out the wetness, the ABA did their best job to build up a good track, but soft dirt and BMX racing don't go well together, On Saturday the track was bumpy and soft, but by Sunday, it was dry and fast. The track was filled with ruts and bumps, but it made for a new challenge for the riders. Once again it was one of the biggest races of the season, and the Double A Marketing riders were atop the podium at the race end. Here is how the riders finished up.

Warwick Stevenson was once again on top of his game, as he was in the top 3 of AA Pro both days, with a 3rd on Saturday and a huge win on Sunday. On Saturday, Warwick came back to win Pro Open as well. Then when racing was over, he went out and helped the ABA work on the track and get it in tip top shape for Sunday. What a nice guy. Warwick's sponsors include Diamondback, Oakley, Thor, ATI, FSA Headsets, Answer Helmets and Forks, AC Components, Marwi, IRC, Ballistic, Dope, Vans, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, Head Lock, and BMXpros.com.

Thomas Allier has been scorching the BMX tracks this season, and a huge win in AA pro on Saturday at the Spring Nationals was just another showing of his speed and skills. Thomas also placed 3rd in Pro Open on Saturday. On Sunday, Thomas crashed in the first main and that held him back to 6th overall, but once again showed his fans what they wanted to see. Thomas sponsors include Giant, THE, Troy Lee Designs, IRC Tires, Sun Ringle, Oakley, Champion Nutrition, Powerbar, Redsand Clothing, ODI, Jan Sport, Lava Soap, WD-40, Powerbar, Hot Wheels, and BMXpros.com.

Jamie Staff was the king of 2nd this weekend, as he placed 2nd in Pro Open both days as well as 2nd in AA pro on Sunday. Jamie has been flying at the BMX track, as well as the velodrome, as he is off to Russia next week for the next UCI Velodrome World Cup event for Team Great Britain. This guy fly's on all kinds of bikes. Jaime's Sponsors include Haro, Adidas, No Fear, Lee Pipes, O'Neal Helmets, Tangent, AC Components, Smith Eye Wear, Energy, Champion Nutrition, Answer Forks, Shimano, Powerbar, Kicker, Bob's Stores, BMXpros.com, and Headlock.

Randy Stumpfhauser was once again flying in the pro mains as on Saturday he placed 2nd in AA pro. Randy was in the lead in the Pro Cruiser main, but a bad crash held him to 8th and gave him a very sore back. On Sunday, Stumpy showed up and was in the Pro Cruiser main, where he placed 5th overall. Randy's sponsors include Huffy, Fox, Smith Eye Wear, IRC Tires, AC Components, Vans, Marwi Ti Spokes, Powerbar, Control Tech, Head Lock, Revenge, CTI 2, Champion Nutrition, and BMXpros.com.

Robert MacPherson made a great return after a long break due to a shoulder injury from last season. Robert had actually raced 2 other nations this year, but this was the first one he felt ready to mix it up in AA. On Saturday, Robert was flying in the moto's, but a broken pedal cost him a spot in the main. On Sunday, Big Mac was in the AA semi, but just missed out of being in the main event. Robert was happy with his performance and looks forward to Salt Lake City in 2 weeks. Roberts sponsors include Free Agent, O'Neal, Oakley, Rush Brakes, Marwi Spokes, Bombshell, Sun Ringle, THE, Head Lock, Kore, ODI, IRC, Vans, Powerbar and BMXpros.com.
