ABA Winter
Nationals Phoenix, Arizona
Round 4 of the 2005 ABA Pro Series national event was the first
outdoor race of the season and just like the last outdoor event
the ABA held
(ABA Fall Nationals), they ran into some of the worst weather conditions
that they could. This time though, it seems that the ABA and the staff
from the Black Mountain track were ahead of the game with taking some
precautions. While the Phoenix track crew had tarps and kept the track
in the best shape that they could, many riders decided not to race
at the ABA Winter nationals, as mother nature had a slight
upper hand on
the fight to keep the track dry.
As some riders took a look at the weather channel before hand or at
the actual rain once they arrived to Phoenix, there were a few Pros
and armatures
who decided just not to hit the track. Randy Stumpfhauser loves to
race no matter what the conditions and it seems the rain or mud didn't
slow
him down all that much over the course of the weekend. Here is how
Randy finished up in the main events.
Randy Stumpfhauser has always been a consistent racer and Phoenix was
a showcase of his consistency. On Saturday, Stumpy was in both the
AA Pro and Pro Cruiser main events, where he finished up 3rd in both.
The
ABA scorers were just able to read his Tangent Number plate as he crossed
the line with the mud. On Sunday, it was another 3rd in AA Pro but
he bumped up his finish in Pro Cruiser to a 1st place. Randy hopes
to have
a bit better of racing conditions next weekend as he will travel to
Las Vegas, along with the other Double A Marketing Pros for the 2nd
round
of the NBL 2005 Pro Series. Randy's sponsors include GT Bicycles, Hyundai,
