BMX Race Report
ABA Fall Nationals Del Mar, CA
The ABA BMX National race series came to Sunny Southern California
this past weekend and gave all the BMX racers one last chance
to race at a
regular ABA national of the season. Unfortunately, Sunny So Cal wasn't
that way just days before the ABA came to town and the rains made for
one soft BMX track. The ABA did there best to make a bad situation
better, working on the track late into the nights and doing
what they could to
make the track hard, but unfortunately, it was just a mess. All of
the riders stepped up and made the best of the weekend and
still made the
ABA Fall Nationals a great weekend. Here is how the Double A Marketing
riders finished up.
Cristian Becerine is one of the most impressive Pro riders on the BMX
national scene, as no matter what the conditions, sanction, or event,
he is a threat to win. Cristian did just that on Saturday night, as
he won the Pro Open main event from start to finish. A crash in the
AA Pro
Semi kept him out of the main on day 1, but Day 2 was a different story,
as he was in the main event, and was battling for the lead going into
the first turn, but once again, the soft track wreaked havoc on Cristian
and he wound up on the ground. Cristian got up and finished 7th. Cristian's
sponsors include Crupi, O'Neal, Answer, UGP, ODI, Sun Ringle, Marwi,
Shimano, Tool Shed, Powerbar, BMXpros.com, Cyto Sport, and Thomson
Seat Posts. Kyle Bennett finds himself in a nice spot after
the ABA Fall Nationals. With a 2nd on Sunday in AA Pro, Kyle has
secured himself, along with
3 other riders, with a shot at winning the ABA #1 Pro title. Similar
to what happened in the NBL, Kyle has the least amount of pressure
on him at the ABA Grands, and with the incredible way he rode all weekend
on the soft track, once its back to a normal style track in Tulsa,
it will be very interesting to see what the NBL #1 Pro from Texas has
for the rest of the ABA Pros. Kyle was also in the AA main on Saturday,
where he finished up 7th. Kyle's sponsors include Free Agent, KHS,
Answer, Sun Ringle, UGP, Truvativ, Velo, Vans, S&M bars, ATI, Shimano,
Profile, Powerbar, Smith, Cyto Sport, and BMXpros.com.
Randy Stumpfhauser came to the ABA Falls looking to improve on his
impressive scores going into the ABA Grand Nationals, and on Sunday
he did just that, as he finished 3rd. Randy already has the maximum
number of wins in the Pro Cruiser class, so he focussed on AA Pro
only this weekend. Saturday wasn't as kind to Randy, as a mud hole
seemed to suck him in around turn one during the semi, and took all
his speed and chances of making the main event away. Randy, just
like Kyle will go into the Grands with a chance at winning the #1
Pro title and the Hyundai Santa Fe that the ABA will be awarding
to the new #1 Pro. Randy's sponsors include GT Bicycles, Hyundai,
ODI, IRC Tires, Shimano, Fox Racing, Smith, Sun Ringle, Bombshell
Forks, AC, Thomson, Powerbar, CTI Knee Braces, Tool Shed, Marwi,
FSA Headsets, S & M, Cyto Sport, and BMXpros.com |
