2003 NBL Grands Louisville, KY

Look for multiple updates throughout the days-

August 30th update-

2nd update- Well at 430 this afternoon, they got racing off to a start. With over 400 Moto's, the NBL had their work cut out for them, as they wanted to run at the very least the first round of moto's. The track wasn't too bad, but the Pro section was un jumpable, so the riders had to take the Armature section. Just before the first gate of racing, the pros had a warm up, and Randy Stumpfhauser took a bad crash just out of the gate when his chain came off. Stumpy was muddy, but back up and race ready. Here is a shot of him watching the first few moto's, then attacking the track in his first AA Moto.

----------------

Jamie Staff also looked great, and he was up front in both of his AA Pro moto's as well as the first round of Pro Open. This is Jamie's first BMX race since Lancaster, but you wouldn't know it, as he was holeshotting and looking smoother than ever.

The race finished around 930pm and they got up to Moto 100 of the 2nd round. Tomorrow will be the big day, as Stumpy is going for the NBL #1 Pro Title. Come back here for the race results and updates.

1st update- Its raining. The first round of moto's were to start at 9 am this morning but the rains moved in and right now (12:00) its still here. We just got back from the track, where they have postponed the race until 3 pm and then will make a decision, but by the looks of things, there will not be any racing today. The track itself is covered, and it looks better that it has in a long time, so its a shame that the rain came today.

August 29th update

Practice went off today and the top Pros are all here and looking fast. Randy Stumpfhauser leads the NBL Pro title chase, just 8 points ahead of Kyle Bennit and John Purse. With the mains giving 20 points for 1st. 18 for 2nd, and 16 for 3rd, it will come down to all the riders in the top 3 need to make the main, and then Randy can place 2 spots behind each of the other riders if they win, and still be the 2003 NBL #1 Pro. Its tight, but will make for exciting racing.
